PRESS RELEASE
June 2022
Congratulations to Whitianga member Raewyn Helms-Davis who won a Highly Commended Award in the prestigious Adams Portraiture Awards announced in Wellington late May for her pastel “Kahu and the Carver” that features Thames artist Peter Plumb.
Raewyn says “I had an exciting evening last Wednesday at the opening night of the Adams Awards in Wellington. It was a great honour to receive a Highly Commended Award along with four others, and was thrilled to see all of the 45 finalists' work on the walls. The winning portrait was by Jessica Gurnsey who at 18 years old, was the youngest person to have received this prize in the history of the awards."
