Sarah Gordon’s artistic process focuses on creating abstract impressions and sketches through layers of acrylic paint and wax, applied with silicon and steel blades in a method inspired by oil encaustic painting. She works on various surfaces, including canvas, board, and paper, infusing each piece with texture and movement. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Coromandel coastline, her work captures the tactile essence of the landscapes she cherishes.

This year, Sarah has focused on painting local coastal views as well as incorporating memories from cycle trips through the South Island, New Zealand. Her paintings aim to embody the spirit of the towns and landscapes she experiences, blending them into layered, evocative artworks that capture the soul and texture of much-loved mountains and coastlines.
