RETURNING ARTIST

Painting & Print
When I arrived in NZ from London in 1981 I was predominantly working with fabric, fibre and stitch. Winning a major award at that time enabled me to embark on a journey of further study through fabric printing to traditional and pigment print making. My current work reflects all these influences, and I divide my time between Hamilton and our hilltop house and studio overlooking Tairua Harbour and out to the Alderman Islands.
Print making is still my first love with its ability to develop unique marks. I continue to work on the development of surface texture with stitch, fibre and harakeke papers. Interrogating works digitally to develop and extend their possibilities is an ongoing practice.
I also create wearable art jewellery and hand printed silk scarves using hand carved blocks.
