I am inspired by my love of nature and paint mainly landscapes. My inspiration is to capture the effect of light and the atmospheric patterns of the sky with colourful washes. Painting the scenes of the Coromandel and Tairua I try to capture the mood of land and sea. Watercolour is my favourite medium as it is unpredictable and has a habit of doing what it likes as the water moves the paint around the paper. I love the transparency, freedom, and magic of watercolour. My work is somewhere between representational as in flower paintings and loose, contemporary. I do work in acrylics as the scene requires.
