Light and its movement through the day provide the inspiration for colour shifts and expressive energies in my works. Lines, shapes and complex surface and layering of textures come from references to my childhood in the tussock country of the South Island and the landforms and coastline near my Coromandel Peninsula residence. I paint with acrylics, cold wax and oil or earth pigments which I find in the many colours of Coromandel clays. Membership of X-Press Artists – formerly known as Printmakers Combined – keeps expanding my printmaking creativity.
