Ceramics
Over 70 years in art began teaching myself to throw and fire ceramics. Partially accomplished
this segued to an MFA in Fine Arts in ceramics with an emphasis in figurative sculpture, 1974.
After graduating a career as a Museum Professional, Writer, active Exhibiting Sculptor,
especially Ohio and New York. Then Director of a Not-for-profit (TAO) for which the two major
projects were International Exchanges and a website documenting Ohio artists primarily those
working in the l960’ s and 70’s. These projects were enhanced in the 1990’s by a return to
ceramics as a holiday activity in Hahei, New Zealand, where the focus is on interesting form and
alternative glazes.
The work shown this year is a medley of recently old and new Hahei ceramics.
Biography.
Born Wanganui, New Zealand, 1934.
Emigrated to U.S.A. 1962. Now dual citizen.
MFA Ohio State University College of Arts, 1974,
Director Ohio State University Art Gallery 1974 – 82.
Active Curator, Artist, Writer and Administrator 1982 to present.
