Mosaic
Through my work with wildlife ( Former Kuaotunu Bird Rescue ) i am lucky to have observed and got close to wild birds.
I got to know their body anatomy, feather structure and facial expressions, which I am using to make the mosaic as real as possible.
I learned mosaic through classes with Anne Bowden, many years ago. After learning the basics I developed my own unique style using mainly China.
I collect mainly plates cups and saucers from opshops. Using recycled material is an important part of my art.
I have been invited to "10 Artists" two years in a row and feel privileged to be part of Kuaotunu artists.
Living in the Coromandel and working with Wildlife was the inspiration of my art.
Making beautiful objects that pay tribute to the natural world reminds me to slow down and to reconnect with our environment.
