Raewyn Hildreth

Flax Weaving and Photography

LOCATION:

I love experimenting with anything that can be woven, but mostly I grow, harvest, dye and weave NZ flax (harakeke).  I’ve been weaving for 12 years, having attained a Bachelor of Maori Visual Art. Currently I am producing a range of contemporary one-off sculptured bodices. I also love to document and photograph my work, which has resulted in a range of limited edition prints, alongside my greeting card series.

I will be teaching three classes during Art Escape 2020. These are Flax Weaving for Beginners, Paper Straw Weaving and The Artist Journey.  More info on these can be found at  www.chasingmercury.co.nz
