Calling New Artists for the Mercury Bay Art Escape 2023
Would you like to join the artists of the Mercury Bay Art Escape?
We are currently calling for submissions from artists based in or connected to the Mercury Bay geographical area to become members of and participate in the 2023 Mercury Bay Art Escape.
We welcome applications from artists who live, have property, or who have a genuine connection to the Mercury Bay geographical area of the Art Escape. The area extends from Whangapoua in the north to Pauanui/ Hikuai in the south.

The Open Studios in the first 2 weekends of March each year and the accompanying Showcase exhibition that features one work from each member is a major event on the Coromandel Peninsula visual arts calendar. This event showcases a diverse group of artists from a wide variety of disciplines. Additional benefits include ongoing promotion during the year, mentoring opportunities, an opportunity to make new friends in the art community, networking events with other artists and Trustees’ efforts to encourage visitors to the Mercury Bay area. Selection panel lead and Whitianga member artist Monique Rush says. “As a painter and mixed-media artist and part of the selection panel I look for high quality, originality and variety in an artist’s work. Your personality and passion should shine through in whatever medium you love to create in. Although we are often solitary creators, being part of Mercury Bay art escape gives members the chance to mingle with like-minded people and to showcase your talents to the public during open studios.”
See New Artists Info page for full guidelines and application form.
Closing date: 14th August 2022
