Painting - oils
I paint landscapes in oils, inspired by the weather and scenes around Mercury Bay and the Coromandel Peninsula. The use of strong colour is a reoccurring theme. I have two themes running through my work. Firstly the more conventional rural and sea scenes. I love painting rain, lightning, rainbows and the moonrise. I also find the night scenes interesting and challenging. The second theme is a study of contrasting colours to create harmony and magic.
I have been a professional artist for 45 years. I attended Elam Art School in 1974. My first exhibition was held by the Waikato Society of Arts in 1977. Since then I have mainly exhibited in Auckland and now Whitianga.
